The 87th edition of the Geneva Motor Show opened its doors to the public from 9 to 19 March 2017.
Two days of press review, before the official opening presided over by Mr. Johann N. Schneider - Ammannmember of the Swiss National Council, who opened the exhibition of over 900 car models, including 148 European and world premieres.
Sharing the limelight will be 180 exhibitors, including all the major manufacturers, a number of exceptional manufacturers, car preparation specialists, internationally renowned automotive designers, as well as suppliers of automotive parts, accessories and equipment. All to offer the public a unique experience, giving them a glimpse into the heart of the automotive industry.
“Technology and Design are the two key words that best characterise the Geneva Motor Show and did not disappoint the more than 700,000 visitors. The tour of the Motor Show was a real dive into a galaxy of bodies with flowing or more pronounced lines, shimmering colours or matt shades, reflecting the extraordinary performance of the cars, accompanied by the scent emanating from the ultra-durable leathers of the interiors" - explained Mr. Maurice Turrettinipresident of the Geneva Motor Show.
The starting signal was given on Monday, 6 March 2017, with the election of the Car of the Year. For the 6th consecutive year, the winner was chosen from the 7 finalists of the Motorshow. While participation in the awarding of the prize is reserved for journalists, the general public was able to follow it via live streaming.
62 of the 180 exhibitors presented one or more previews as part of the 148 announced. Among them were some gems, such as the world's first ultra-high-performance car from Indian manufacturer Tata; the dream car of the Formula 1 champion Emerson Fittipaldicreated by Pininfarina; the sporty elegance typical of British manufacturer David Browm Automotive.
