Overlooking the picturesque Exiles Bay in Sliema, Maltaa 400 square metre flat underwent a complete makeover by Sabrina Soldà of Sap Management and Keith Pillow of the Maltese firm DAAA Haus. The designers were inspired by the Mediterranean landscape and traditional limestone, creating an elegant interior dominated by wood and
natural stone, custom-worked by Marble&Granite Services.
In order to avoid the use of limestone, which is too crumbly, Antolini® stones were chosen to match the natural shades of the site, as Soldà explains: "Visiting the company to choose the blocks with the customer was like entering an art museum. One realises how much nature has always inspired human creations."
The visually connected living and dining room feature natural quartz surfaces from the Exclusive Collection by Antolini®, that add brightness to the rooms. In the living room, the oak ceiling and the wall unit with brass uprights and Lumix Crystal reflect the Art Deco style. The dining table, in Crystal TrasluxIt stands out with a 360 cm top, the junction of which is embellished with brass strips forming semi-circles, which are also echoed in the table legs. The same slats frame the wooden mosaic on the floor, discreetly defining the functional area.
The kitchen, separated by a lounge, is designed to be discreet: a kitchenettes concealed and a sculptural central island clad in Lumix Crystal evokes Corinthian columns, with vertical slats giving movement.
A Wine Library enhances a corner of the house with the Patagonia Original 'Extra' by Exclusive Collectionwhose colours blend in with the environment, interspersed with touches of brass and black.
In the bathrooms, selected materials such as Dover White® and Invisible Lightcarefully laid, enhance the minimalist elegance: in the courtesy bathroom, the white marble washbasin block blends harmoniously with the oak panelling; while in the master bathroom, the grey Invisible Light covers walls and floor with a natural texture that enhances every detail.
