Brera Design District 2018

Brera Design District presents the 9th edition of its Design Week during Fuorisalone 2018, in Milan from 17 to 22 April.

Brera Design District: the design promotion district in Milan

In these years the Brera Design District has consolidated its position as a nationwide design promotion district, characterised by a clear identity and in contact with the most renowned Italian professionals and brands, as well as with investors and sponsors of the highest level. Studiolabo is the creative studio/agency that manages the organisation of the event, with a team of operators specialised in communication design: concept and graphic design, digital marketing and strategic marketing.
Last year alone, Brera Design Week was able to count around 180 events and 300 companies involved, with over 300,000 visitors in total. On the strength of these numbers, this year's edition has an extremely packed calendar of events, full of special projects and cultural initiatives not to be missed.

Brera Design Days presents 'Be Human: designing with empathy'.

In the course of Brera Design Days 2017 empathy was among the most debated topics: hence the inspiration behind the choice of the theme Be Human: designing with empathyfocused on the knowledge of users/customers as a starting point in the conception and design phase of a new product.

The ability to empathise with others and understand their needs must precede the creation of solutions: this is the basic concept in the designer's work. In a world now dominated by the digitisationwhich sees in theartificial intelligence the future of technology, an all-human concept such as empathy becomes a scarce resourcewhich will be a key competitive factor for products and services, as it is not present in even the most advanced robots.

The role of emotion in the birth of a project

If empathy is in some ways the engine of the creative phase, emotion is undoubtedly a direct result of it, that emotion that is inherent in all objects and is brought to light by the hands of the designer. This year's ambassadors at the Brera Design District include numerous talents who believe in the emotional aspect of design, in the empathy that arises between objects, places and individuals.

Cristina CelestinoWith his delicate aesthetic-design vision, he intertwines an architectural education with a refined personal taste, which is first and foremost a sensitivity for beauty.

Elena Salmistraro puts the more purely artistic aspect at the centre of his works, to arouse intense feelings and reach the soul through design, all to convey his inspiring poetic vein.

Daniele Lago understands design as the design of a sensory experience; the artist, born in Brera in 2009, has changed the mould with the Appartamento LAGO, creating an example of interaction between product and person.

The Brera Design District is part of the Administration's broader plan to bring the liveliness and creativity of Design Week to all the city districts, in the conviction that these are not only occasions for exhibitions or meetings for operators and professionals, but above all opportunities to offer the city and its inhabitants the chance to discover new creative languages and young talents, in tune with the many artisans and activities present in the district. Design Week continues to grow in the city and the entire metropolitan area of Milan. The moments of meeting and vitality in the design areas are increasingly attractive. A result made possible thanks to the choral work between the City of Milan and the various operators united by the desire to promote Milan in the name of creativity and innovation.
