Made in Stupino, Russia, the first 3D printed house using mobile technology and completed in just 24 hours. The house is 38 square metres in size and it took only 24 hours to make the entire 38 square metre apartment with bathroom, living room, kitchen, bedroom and entrance room.
The project was completed by Apis Cor, a San Francisco start-up, using a mobile 3D printer, which boasts a height of 3.1 metres and a width of 8.5 metres. The total cost of the 3D printed house was €9,500, including the construction of doors and windows.
The making of a 3D printed house
The printer built walls, ceiling and floors using a cement mixture. It took less than 24 hours to build the walls, partitions and self-supporting building envelope, and once the job was completed, the printer was removed from the construction site using a crane.
A decorative plaster mineral, Reibeputz - KOROED from the manufacturer Bitex, was also used to finish the moulded walls. The material has high adhesion and vapour permeability, which is excellent for interior and exterior finishing work.
Double windows were also installed in the house supplied by the partner company 'Fabrika Okon', which develops innovative climate-controlled windows.
The use of Mobile 3D Printing saves up to 70% on the forming of building boxes compared to traditional building techniques, such as the block method, because each block has to be put in place, cut to size and aligned.
