With inspiration from Scandinavian lands, Davide Groppi leads to Euroluce 2017 the story of a journey to discover a common matrix, based on a design firmly linked to concepts of simplicity, lightness, emotion and invention, but also the search for a new approach to quality of life applied to everyday life. A Nordic design, the result of a creative journey in which form and function merge.
"This collection represents a rebirth for me, understood as a new way of approaching light. The new ideas arrived, like a gift, after a long gestation period, which served to re-evaluate and reappraise the primordial nature of my need to make lamps. On the one hand the desire to simply make beautiful light, on the other the need to communicate, building tales and metaphors of light. I have tried to do all this with simplicity, but at the same time with creativity and invention, aspects that have always interested and distinguished me'.
The journey between East and West by Davide Groppi
Following the thread of purity and functionality, Davide Groppi goes as far as the Far East, specifically Japan.
It is from this land that the essentiality of pure forms is taken, in a cross-reference of suggestions that unites cultures that are only apparently distant.
Projects Infinity e Flash
A system that dematerialises the lamp object by transforming it into something else, leaving just a trace, a line and then not even that, just a concept, just light. Infinity e Flash want to be a homage to the art of Lucio Fontana and its spatial concepts. A very thin metal ribbon cuts through the space and projects direct and indirect light at the same time, from which it derives an astonishing graphic force, due to its ability to be integrated and at the same time present in space.
