Essentials by CQS Studio
After curating the exhibition at the Salone del Mobile DeLightFuLdedicated to contemporary furnishings told through evocative dreamlike atmospheres designed with light, the two artists wanted to propose a project based on the intention of transforming the hotel lobby from a temporary transit space into a place to be experienced.
On the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2017, Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda launch this first collection of furniture and accessories produced in collaboration with selected Italian companies. In perfect accordance with the Heideggerian conception of dwellingwhich finds its main root in being understood as presence, Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda have furnished the hotel space with pieces suspended between past and present, always with an original signature and imprint.
The sensation of comfortable luxury that the installation evokes is full of executive virtuosity, elegant finishes and emotional components, the result of a vocation for an all-decorative aesthetic, which is accompanied by a harmony of lines and volumes sculpted into silhouettes with a clear and decisive profile.
Essential pieces, made special by the use of warm and refined materials, such as brass, and colours in rare and sophisticated shades, such as bright pink and malachite green. The geometric design of Essentials could easily fit into the neo deco.
All the pieces in the collection seem to be suspended between past and present, with an aesthetic and decorative attitude that goes far beyond the style of an era.
Pure forms and strong lines, in pleasant contrast to the softness of the upholstery and the comfort of the seat, characterise the Gildo sofaThis is a contemporary design piece with a strong personality, which seems to have been taken from the set of a classic film from the golden years of cinema, to fit perfectly into any space.
Comfortable and with strong lines, the Silvana armchair is a presence with well-defined volumes that catches the eye and defines the space around it. Extremely plastic and enveloping, it succeeds in giving a well-defined shape to the love of decoration and is an expression of a style neo decoideal for sophisticated and unusual interiors that can range from classic to contemporary taste, but always with an eye to the future.
Gentle and sinuous proportions characterise the sofa Barrya refined furnishing solution for an unusual winter garden: a versatile space - in line with the current trends of rediscovering nature - between the charm of en plein air atmospheres and indoor intimacy.
Monkey, Owl, Foxthree mirrors in the shape of animals - a monkey, an owl and a fox - recalling a playful world, a connection with nature and a return to the essentials. These objects become a functional, playful, ironic, somewhat reassuring ornament to bring everyone, especially the older ones, back to a fantasy world, immersing themselves in the magic of the forest and fairy tales.
