It is called Hérathe new armchair signed by French designer Patrick Jouin for Pedrali, made of wood, the natural raw material par excellence, and presented at the 58th edition of the Milan Furniture Fair.
Tracing the success of Esterdesigned for the restaurants of the chef starred Alain Ducasse, the Héra collection synthesises the concepts of lightness, comfort and envelopment, focusing on wood, to which the designer gives an extremely delicate and pure fluid form.
"For me, the design of a new chair is not just a question of design - says Jouin - my goal is to improve people's lives. Héra bases its foundation on the beauty of wood and the processing it allows. Thanks to Pedrali's know-how and the latest technology it employs, we have succeeded in achieving a light and sensual seat that uses wood only where it is needed'.
Ash or American walnut are the two woods used for Héra, with the backrest in three-dimensional curved plywood, only 6 mm thick, which is pleasant to grip. It is characterised by elegance and ergonomics, while the seat upholstered in polyurethane foam supported by elastic straps maximises its cosiness and comfort.
The rectangular-section legs with rounded corners emphasise the high attention to detail that characterises this collection. The finishes are in bleached ash or American walnut, the upholstery in fabric or leather.
La environmental sustainability is a fundamental aspect of Pedrali, which uses FSC™ certified wood C114358 i.e. from forests that are managed correctly and responsibly according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. The water-based paints used in the plants are also composed of organically derived resins that have hardness, chemical and light resistance and industrial workability comparable to classic petroleum-derived products, but with a clear reduction in the fossil component and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), chemical compounds contained in normal paints that evaporate at room temperature.
