During the Milan Design Week 2024, Karl Lagerfeld presented its second Maison collection, unveiling a new chapter in its inexhaustible creative exploration. The Wellen Collection - which means 'waves' in German - celebrates the perfect marriage of art, design and architecture, embodying the visionary spirit that has always distinguished the brand.
Exhibited in the showroom at Via Passione 8, the collection was enthusiastically received.
Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeldsaid that the name of this beautiful collection perfectly embodies how I imagine Karl - always on the crest of a wave. The collection comes from his rich archives, a pure expression of his creativity and passion for design.

A tribute to the waves and Karl's creativity

Wellen draws inspiration from the fluid movement of waves, reinterpreted in soft lines, harmonious curves and generous shapes that define each piece. Some of the most iconic elements include an elegant midnight blue velvet sofa, composed of ten separable modules, that combines comfort and versatility, and a dining table in iridescent Labradorite Blue, with steel-covered legs in the shape of conical columns, that captures Lagerfeld's playful spirit and recalls the aesthetics of the 1970s.
Every detail has been meticulously designed to reflect Karl Lagerfeld's legacy, celebrating his passion for interior design and architecture.

Collaborations of excellence: Toan Nguyen for Wellen

As per tradition of the Maisoneach collection sees the involvement of a guest designer. For Wellen, the contribution was entrusted to renowned furniture designer Toan Nguyen, known for his sophisticated simplicity and attention to craftsmanship.
Collaborating with the brand was a great experience,' said Nguyen, 'I was able to combine my vision with Karl's heritage. Every detail tells a story, it is a tribute to the man.

A journey through Karl's archives

The creative team of the Maisonled by Caroline Lebar, SVP of image and communication, drew inspiration from Lagerfeld's legendary sketches.
We meticulously explored his archives, looking at every line and colour.
This collection is the result of a journey into Karl's world,' said Lebar.
In particular, the collection recalls the interior design of Lagerfeld's iconic flat in Saint Sulpice, Paris, in the 1970s, reflecting his love of
fluid geometries and fine materials.
A multifaceted creativity that continues to inspire Karl Lagerfeld was not only a fashion icon, but also a passionate interior designer, illustrator and photographer. The Wellen Collection is the latest celebration of his multifaceted creativity, which continues to influence generations of designers and artists beyond the boundaries of the fashion world.
With this collection, the Karl Lagerfeld brand reaffirms its pioneering role in the design landscape, honouring the invaluable legacy of one of the most iconic creative spirits of our time.
Wellen is not just a furniture collection; it is a journey into the limitless imagination of Karl Lagerfeld.
