Maniglie Olivari design lifestyle

The experience of designers and architects specialising in the production of the Olivari handles. Unique and unrepeatable elements, a continuous search for absolute quality. This has always been the winning weapon of the Piedmontese company, which has been manufacturing handles since 1911.

From hot forging to blanking, through machining, grinding, vibrating, polishing, galvanic deposition, right up to PVD coating and identification laser marking. All stages relating to the production of Olivari handles have always taken place in the Borgomanero plant, north-west of Milan; just as the technical components, in resin or sheet metal, are moulded in the same factory.

Over the decades, this type of workmanship has given rise to products that have made history and distinguished the homes of Italians. Among these is the handle "Club"by Vico Magistretti, a first in the industry given the leather upholstery that makes the entrance more pleasant to the touch. The handle was designed with an 'industrial' logic in mind. The layer of leather has been glued onto two thinned shells, a way of giving continuity to the shape without tripping over the stitching, and preventing the handle from wearing out.

Peter Marino, on the other hand, relied on materials such as wood and Corian to give new lustre to the Olivari handles. Thanks to the search for a contemporary luxury image, the Edge. Created with the idea of the play of contrasts between the two materials, two longitudinal walls can be seen on the handle, delimiting its front. In this way, it is possible to diversify the production of Edge, coordinating these shapes with the surroundings.

For those who aim for luxury, Marcel Wanders has designed the handle 'Crystal'. Elegant and refined, it consists of a brass part and a crystal part. The latter allows a glimpse of the decoration reflected on the brass. It has been produced in two variants, Diamond e Royalwith deep facets and soft curves respectively.

Using these two materials, Dominique Perrault also came up with a surprising handle. It is called Ice Cubeand is characterised by the extreme precision of the grinding that combines the transparent crystal with the other alloy.

Finally, for lovers of whimsy, Jean Nouvel designed Chelsea, using porcelain to express his ideal of a sensual and ergonomic handle with a strong visual impact. While some products were designed for the home, others had a more 'exclusive' destination. Think of the Soft handle by Steven Holl and Fabiao Solange, created for the Loisium Wine Spa Resort, an 82-room hotel in the green countryside of Austria, where nature and architecture come together in an original balance.
