Luigi Ghirri's photography exhibition at the Milan Triennale

Inauguration of the exhibition 'Luigi Ghirri, the landscape of architecture'., edited by Michele Nastasiat the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Milan Triennale. The exhibition, on display until 28 August 2018is a splendid homage to the artist who died prematurely in 1992, who impeccably portrayed the union between architecture and landscape.

Nature and the work of man

His relationship with architecture began in 1983, when Luigi Ghirri began collaborating with the magazine Lotus International. Through a decade of study and research, the photographer from Emilia demonstrates how to observe and understand reality in reaction to the phenomena and contradictory aspects of contemporary landscapes. His conception of a freer architecture later became a true cult for many architects and photographers. Decades later, in today's urban landscape landscape, his vision of reality and what constitutes it has taken on an even deeper value.

During his lifetime, Luigi Ghirri produced photographic material on the interventions of individual architects and exhibitions at the Milan Triennale. He also edited major editorial projects, within Quaderni di Lotus International, such as Italian Landscape (1989) and the photographic section of Metropolitan Atlas (1991).

The exhibition is aexposure of about 350 photographsoriginal prints and projected images. Some previously unpublished shots from the Lotus archive and the Milan Triennale can also be admired. Combined with the photographic section, we find a selection of publications and other materials, which emphasise the extraordinary talent of the artist in publishing and criticismwhich led to his work on architecture. The beauty of the photographic products is accompanied by the expertise in organisation and staging (Studio Calzoni Architects), as well as in graphics (Pierluigi Cerri).

A landscape with blurred borders

A small drop introduces the exhibition, which has as its backdrop a landscape with blurred borders, whose thematic sections are indicated by coloured neon. High pedestals with suspended prints create intimacy between the public and the works themselves. Finally, in a further space in semi-darkness, five projectionswhich generate a very immersive effect.

Luigi Ghirri's excellent photographic work places the artist among the most active protagonists of Italian photography, capable of promoting a new vision of reality.
