Travelling music. Vito Nesta in the rooms of Giuseppe Verdi.

From 9 to 14 April, at the Milan Design Week 2019the designer Vito
Nesta presents to the Grand Hotel et de Milan his first solo exhibition "Music from journey. Vito Nesta in the rooms of Giuseppe Verdi'., edited by Annalisa Rosso.
Symbolic place of the city, the Grand Hotel et de Milan has always been a repository of meaningful events that have marked its more than one hundred and fifty years of existence.

A place rich in history and a treasure trove of stories, the Grand Hotel et de Milan has been, since the end of the 19th century, the only hotel in Milan with postal and telegraph services, has seen men and women pass through its doors who have left their mark on history: diplomats, entrepreneurs, artists from all over the world, often linked to the nearby La Scala Theatre.

And it is in these environments that Vito Nesta has found the space akin to his research, which has always been nourished by memory as an infinite archive from which to draw freely to create new design that embraces colour, decoration and dialogue with history. It is no coincidence that the personal Music
travel was conceived as a site-specific project for the Stanze di Giuseppe Verdi, where the Maestro lived for about thirty years during his long stays in Milan, and died in 1901.
Playing with the chromatic range are the architecturally scaled installations, on display among the original furnishings. A symphony of beauty that starts from the past to feed on new, eternal breaths.
"Synaesthetic modulations that mirror each other, approaching and at times moving apart without ever interrupting the dense exchange of references. An immersive experience for visitors, of absolute pleasure,' says the curator Annalisa Rosso "An opportunity to spy - literally - inside the designer's world, composed of a prolific imagery of reworkings and evocations that come from epochs and geographical locations even far apart".

There is no shortage of starting points provided by the Grand Hotel itself, suffice it to mention the key role of the large marble sculpture usually placed in the entrance hall,
19th century allegory of the abolition of slavery in Brazil, whose law was signed during the hotel stay of the Imperial Highnesses Dom Pedro II of Braganza and Teresa
Christina of Bourbon.

For the first time, large-scale installations are set up in Giuseppe Verdi's historical rooms, little known to the general public. But the large format is not the only element
unprecedented that Vito Nesta presents during this exhibition. The real novelty is the material selected: leather, the main element of the production activated for the occasion, demonstrates its extreme adaptability and expressive power applied to an elegant project, which declares its profound belonging to the city of Milan.
