If one speaks of time and travel, he cannot but come to mind, Vito Nesta. Once again, the designer takes his creativity and turns it into a kind of time machine, capable of transporting us to extraordinary worlds, which tell the story of places through colours, shapes and interweaving suggestions.
Oriental suggestions in Vito Nesta's Grand Tour
Narrative evocation arises from the encounter of distant cultures: from the Orient the designer gathers stimuli to bring fragments of stories, traces
of a glorious and fantastic past. Exotic landscapes stand out on the surfaces of the plates, with nature taking centre stage, characters from another time evoke stories written in ceramics, fans of colour embrace on carpets, Japanese temples and delicate gardens recall a world of unparalleled peace and refinement.
Nesta's histrionic personality spills over into the research work and creative expression of the plate collection exhibited at Maison Objet. They are called Las Palmas e Natsumimade for the Vito Nesta Grand Tour, a new brand making its debut right during Maison Objet 2018.
The idea originates from the designer himself and is based on the creation of objects and accessories whose fil rouge is decoration. A world of visions, of distant lands, sometimes hybrids between different cultures and civilisations, fruit of the imagery made of symbols and stories that characterises Vito Nesta's work. If in Las Palmas is translated into decoration the world of Brazilian colonies told through palm trees, in Natsumi the artist takes up Japanese fairytale landscapes, with a dreamy, dreamlike result.

Porcelain plates with a digital print applied are then adorned with a gold metallic lustre ribbon. An artistic approach that is enriched by a childlike curiosity, capable of giving birth to new solutions that are always original, often ingenious. Beauty is enraptured by the designer in the course of his journeys, which traverse space, but also time and memory, leading him to design solutions that combine aesthetics and functionality. A perpetually restless and productive artistic spirit, exuberant and rich in content. Memory is a fundamental part of Nesta's creativity, which reinterprets time by charging it with emotions, sublimating it into a tangible expressiveness that does not go unnoticed.
Memory, the past and time are extremely important in my work, I would say the starting point for every creation. I like history and I like storytelling and this is where I start from for each of my new adventures. I think we have the task of preserving and revitalising the enormous heritage that comes to us from the pastwith all the suggestions and emotions that come with it.
