Once again this year, the appointment with the Take Off Daythe event dedicated to young aspiring car designers, students of the master course organised by the training organisation Italian Design Institute, attended at the Turin Automobile Museum.
Now in its fourth year, the kermesse was held in the prestigious location of the Enzo Ferrari Museum in ModenaIt was also an opportunity for budding car designers to present the projects they were able to work on during the exclusive master's degree in Car Design from IDI.10
The subject assigned to the students, divided into four groups, is the Ferrari Berlinetta, a type of sports car that knows no crisis, just think of the examples of Jaguar, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and of course Ferrari.
Models such as the 250 SWB or the 250 GTO have become legendary, and in more recent times, Ferrari has produced examples such as the F550 Maranello, the F12 Berlinetta and, most recently, the F812 Superfast. The task for the students, guided by leading lecturers and car designers Maurizio Corbi for the stylistic part and Marco Amadio for the three-dimensional modelling part, was to create a future generation of this type of car.
Turning an eye to the past but certainly thinking of the near future, they tried their hand at a modern, original and innovative work, trying to avoid assonances too close to the Superfast. Not an easy task but certainly a very stimulating one.
In this, they were supported by the technical knowledge and skills acquired during the master's course and the help of the 3D model of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The evaluation parameters for the projects were: overall graphic presentation, design value, adherence to the assigned theme and modelling.
The winning group was John Iodice e Manuel Di Loretowith a project that staged an innovative interpretation on the theme Gran Turismo Berlinettawith an extremely sleek and sporty volume, soft and sinuous lines and a design that is both elegant and appealing at the same time. The front wheel cover and dome are interesting, conveying an idea of continuity and innovation.
Present at Take Off Day 2019course students, parents and the special guest, the clay modeller Mauro Savarinoalso teachers and car designers Maurizio Corbi e Marco Amadio.
