"The Other place aims to provide its guests with a unique, sensory experience, immersing them in emotional atmospheres and in contact with
nature'.
From this concept renovation by Studio 10 architects for 'The Other Place', a creative guesthouse on the Li River in Pingle County, Guilin, has begun.
China. The project, inspired to the artist M.C. Escher, concerned two guestrooms, Dream and Maze, which have been transformed with optical illusions, through a combination of 2D and 3D effects, into a mysterious and almost surreal space, far away from the bustle of the cosmopolitan city and the chaos of everyday life, where a wandering soul can find solace.
Dream, where pale pink and white colours turn the interior space into a distant dream world. The minimalist atmosphere and abstract is accentuated by the lights and other lighting sources, set into the furniture elements. The colours of pale pink and white, interrupted only by the black of the doors and cupboards, however, maintain the pristine nature of the room.
Maze, where instead green walls, gold elements and white lead to a secret forest, where anti-gravity stairs follow a hypothetical path to places
mysterious and unexpected.
The five architects from Studio 10 started working on the project in early 2017 and were certainly inspired by their ideals of art and life: to build a guest house for guests who want to relax and reconnect with themselves and the world, without abandoning the quality and standard of living they are accustomed to in their daily lives.
Three floors in total for 'The Other Place Guilin Litopia', where on the first one we find nine areas with different activities, divided by lifestyle, i.e. Meetingpoint, Teatime, Restup,
Gallery, Create, Samadhi, Book, Scene, CHI. The second and third floors are dedicated to the rooms, a total of ten, completed independently by the five designers. All their creativity, from conceptual idea to realisation.
Great success also on social media. The Instagram profile of 'The Other Place Guilin Litopia'. has attracted many fans of art, design and photography. Among the followers, the knowledge and desire for another life experience is growing. All that remains is to go and discover another possibility of life.
