La Tower of Lands is the representative installation of the collection of clays 2018/2019 of Matteo Brioniat this year's Milan Design Week.
Torre delle Terre, on stage, the raw earth of Matteo Brioni
Designed by art director Marialaura Rossiello, the work in 14 boxes with differently shaped solid bodies inside will be presented at the event Space & Interiors 201817-21 April. Both two- and three-dimensional volumes tell of the natural finishes of a brand that is increasingly popular in the industry.
The collection of soils selected by the architect is the result of a selection made around Italian quarries: the theme of pink with different shades and origins, from Cagliari to Piedmont, dominates. The passion for form and the vocation to build, which has always characterised Brioni's work, has led to a meticulous and careful selection of clays and natural aggregates, coming from different territories and mixed to obtain the chromatic, tactile and functional qualities capable of enhancing environments and declining according to needs.
Raw earth is simply left to air-dry, without the need for baking. Mineral and synthetic binders increase its mechanical strength; jute, wheat, hemp and rice emphasise its materiality.
