Modern and bright. This is how the kitchen designed by Charlotte Raynaud Hegenbart and Menuiserie Hegenbartmade in HI-MACS® in a house with a beautiful view of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, a stone's throw from Aix-en-Provence.
A project which follows the trend of contemporary living with open-plan living spaces that are spacious, bright and give heat to the environment. An important element is the materials used, which become natural with precious textures and veins. And the kitchen is the protagonist. No longer hidden away, it is the main room, to be given warmth and personality, to invite conviviality. Innovative and sustainable materials of the latest generation are used for its realisation.
The result is a project imagined as a floating islandwith mirrored sides that give lightness to the top that almost seems to levitate in the surrounding space. Underlining the elegance and identity of this work was the use of HI-MACS® and the thermoforming Solid Surfacewhich allowed the material to be moulded into the desired shape. Positioned in the centre of the room, the island unites the kitchen with the dining and living area, transforming into dining table and worktop for preparing meals. The island contains six drawers positioned next to the dishwasher to facilitate kitchen tasks.
In addition to the island, the kitchen consists of a 4.6-metre long extension that features a work surface with a single block of HIMACS® Crystal Beige. The grooves of the drainer are carved into the worktop, while the drawer fronts are made of matt lacquered natural oak to preserve the original appearance of the wood. The meticulous work of the Hegenbard carpenters ensured that the wood grains flowed evenly along the entire length of the kitchen.
To give a sense of lightness to the environment it was decided not to install any wall units. A ceiling-mounted hood is discreetly incorporated and connected directly to the hob. A glossy white unit houses larder drawers, a refrigerator/freezer, a tall oven and a microwave.
